Hiking Åreskutan is a fantastic experience, especially in good weather. Make sure to bring water and warm clothes as the weather can shift fast and the temperature drops about 10 degrees from the lake to the top. Brought my son Nils to watch the scenery. Going up takes between 2 and 3 hours.
We cheated a bit and used our lift pass to take the lift to the top of Hummeln, missing out on a 200 m climb.
If you like to go downhill you can take the cable car to the top and walk down instead, but remember it is free to use it going down. We did not make it to the very top which is about 30 minutes and 200 meters higher than the top of the cable car, but from there you have a 360 degree view of the area. Just make sure not to pick a cloudy day since the clouds tend to stay around the top.
