The Swedish mountains are the most beautiful in the fall and hiking this time of the year is one of my favourite things to do. This years fall we hiked Jämtlandstriangeln (the Jämtland Triangle), sleeping in tents but with meals taken inside the different lodges along the track.

Jämtlandstriangeln is a popular hiking route due to the accessibility to the mountain lodges at Storulvån, Blåhammaren och Sylarna, with daily hikes ranging from 15 to 20 km.

This period of the year often offers fantastic sunny days, but we had chosen a weekend when mother nature offered all kinds of weather, with everything ranging from sunshine to snow and rain to full storm. In these conditions equipment is everything and we had the luck to try some of Klättermusen’s (Swedish outdoor brand) clothing, even if my own Everest gear was fully sufficient.

We spent the first night at Blåhammaren mountain lodge where we had ordered their very popular 3-course dinne (must order in advance due to high demand, also if you want to stay in the lodge). Very good and fresh food, even if my trout was over cooked.

During the night the wind picked up to more than storm (29 m/s in the gusts in the morning) and since one in the gang felt a bit ill and my tent blew to pieces while we had breakfast, we decided to head back to Storulvån and relax, instead of heading on to Sylarna.
